Total Energy Management "by Participation" with Key Step Approach
Effective strategic planning is crucial for the management of factories and companies, particularly in the realm of energy management. EnergiSpeak introduces an innovative approach to promote energy conservation by fostering participation from all members within factories, termed as "Energy Conservation by Participation." Energy Management involves optimizing the purchasing, generating, and consuming of various energy types based on the company’s overall short-term and long-term management program, considering costs, availability, economic factors, and more.
The need for Energy Management is evident as it influences various aspects of company operations and activities, including energy costs affecting profitability, competitiveness in the global market, energy supply/demand balance, energy trade and financial balance, environmental impacts, occupational safety and health, loss prevention, waste disposal reduction, productivity, and product quality.
EnergiSpeak employs a structured approach known as "the Key Step Approach" for training and consultancy services, enabling quick reference for users to understand its essence and take prompt actions. The key steps include:
- Formulating Top Management Commitment
- Assignment of Energy Manager
- Understanding the Issues, including: a. Grasping current energy use b. Identifying management strengths and weaknesses c. Analyzing stakeholder needs and anticipating barriers to implementation d. Estimating future trends
- Planning and Organization, including: a. Developing a policy statement b. Setting targets c. Creating a plan/program
- Implementation
- Controlling and monitoring performance
- Management review
- Standardization and Dissemination
EnergiSpeak's Training & Consultancy Services (T&CS) ensure the continuity of energy conservation efforts. These services guarantee that technical and operating personnel are trained to operate equipment safely and efficiently. The T&CS team supports the Energy Committee and Energy Manager through training, fostering an environment for exploring new ideas, exchanging knowledge, and enhancing comfort in their roles. Trained staff, in turn, are encouraged to provide in-house training to operating and lower-level technical staff.
EnergiSpeak T&CS is the primary tool for generating awareness and transmitting knowledge. It addresses two major areas for employee training:
- Training to develop new skills in technologies:
- In-house Training
- Outside Training and Study Tour
- OEM Training
- Training to adopt new attitudes towards energy wastage and waste reduction.
EnergiSpeak T&CS includes the introduction of new technologies, process equipment, operating and maintenance procedures, energy documentation methods, energy-efficient operations, and more. The training is conducted at three levels: Management, Engineering/Technical/Supervisory, and Operators.
The T&CS program follows these steps:
1Analysis for the Training Needs
2Develop the Objective of the Training
3Specify the Matrix of the Training
4Select the Suitable Training Method
5Implement the Training
6Evaluate the Training
Upon completion of EnergiSpeak T&CS, staff members are trained, enhancing the performance of production activities and introducing analytical elements for enterprise energy management. This results in the reduction of energy and raw materials, a significant role of energy in enterprise management, provision of reliable data for decision-making, improvement in product quality, sensitization of personnel to energy problems, and preparation towards automatic facilities in factories.
